Wood Flagpole — 8 Foot Premier

Residential

FPW007WO

Wood poles have been the residential standard for generations, and the reason is straightforward: they look like they belong. A Premier wood pole beside a heritage home or a Confederation Oak on a cottage property reads as intentional in a way that painted metal does not. The material itself has warmth that aluminum simply cannot replicate.

The material itself has warmth that aluminum simply cannot replicate.

The Premier 8x1 inch is the standard residential wood pole — appropriate for a front yard, a lakeside property, or any setting where traditional aesthetics matter. The Confederation Oak 8x1.25 inch steps up in diameter for a more substantial presence. Both are outdoor-rated for residential use and sized for a standard 3x6 or 27x54 flag.

The 5-foot wood pole with bracket (FPW005NF) is also available for covered porches, entryways, or any installation where a shorter wall-mount makes more sense than an in-ground pole. All wood poles use standard external halyard and cleat hardware.

Ideal for:

Heritage homes, cottages, traditional residential properties, Legion halls, and any setting where the visual warmth of a wood pole fits the architecture better than aluminum.

The minimum depth assumes compacted soil. The Building Code typically requires footings below the frost line — generally a minimum of 4 feet (48") below finished grade. Consult your local municipality if in doubt. The anchor cage shipped with the pole is designed for a 4'–6' minimum depth.

Installation Overview

Engineering drawings and full installation instructions ship with the pole. This is a summary for planning purposes.

01

Dig and Pour

Auger or excavate a 26" diameter hole to 44" minimum depth. Bed in gravel, set anchor cage, pour 3,000 PSI concrete. Allow 7 days full cure (or 1 day with quick-set).

03

Walk the pole up

Assemble pole horizontal. Attach hinge pin to base. Two or three people walk the pole up to vertical from the hinge side. Secure the two non-hinge bolts.

02

Level the base

Once cured, thread leveling nuts onto anchor bolts. Place the hinge base plate over the cage, shim level in both directions, and secure with washers and large nuts.

04

Rig and Install

Verify halyard through cam cleat, attach counterweight and snaps, thread the ball finial, install flash collar. Apply silicone bead at collar top. Raise your flag.
